The Police Federal Credit Union, headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is a full service, not-for-profit, financial institution that has been committed to protecting the financial interests of members of the law enforcement community and serving their financial needs since 1935.

The Police FCU is member-owned, and as a not-for-profit cooperative, any “profits” that the credit union makes are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, low or no-fee products and services, and higher savings rates.

Membership Eligibility

Police FCU membership is a privilege earned and shared by those who serve in law enforcement of federal, state, county, and municipal agencies or departments who work in the eligible field of membership.

Currently, those eligible to join Police FCU include:

  • Sworn Officers
  • Civilian employees
  • Retirees
  • Recruits (in training)
  • Volunteers

Membership eligibility also extends to the following:

  • Spouses of persons who died within the field of membership
  • Police FCU employees
  • Immediate family members of Police FCU members (spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, including step relationships)
  • Members of the immediate families or household
credit cards for police officers

Retiring? Moving? You can keep your Police FCU account! We offer convenient services that allow you to access your accounts and funds wherever you are.
We offer direct deposit for paychecks, pension checks and social security checks. You can access your funds via online banking, toll-free phone, checking, check cards and ATMs.

Membership Application (in person):

  1. Complete and sign the application.  Please be sure to fill in all the information and please print.
  2. To verify your identity and membership eligibility, you will need to provide: a valid state-issued photo ID, such as your driver’s license and your work identification or association membership card.  If you are the immediate family of a Police FCU member, you will be asked to provide the name and relationship status of your sponsor (current Police FCU member).
  3. Bring a check or money order for your initial deposit.

If Mailing Your Application:
We will need notarized copies of your identification, as described above.
1. Complete and sign the application.  Please be sure to fill in all the information and please print.
2. Enclose a notarized photocopy of a government-issued photo ID, such as your driver’s license.  This is a requirement to open the account.
3. To verify your membership eligibility, enclose a notarized photocopy of your work identification or association membership card (notarized copies of identification can be on the same sheet).  If you are the immediate family of a Police FCU member, you will need to also submit the name and relationship status of your sponsor (the current Police FCU member).
4. Enclose a check or money order for your initial deposit.
